This old German Mittenwald violin is made of exceptionally good tone woods — medium grained spruce for the top and very elegant mildly flamed sycamore maple for the two-piece back. The dark red-brown, darkened varnish enhances the texture of the wood. This instrument carries a mature radiant voice that is rich in overtones and very resonant, with a warm character.
